Cafe Hopping in Boryeong: 4 Must-Visit Spots for Your Next Trip

Korea is known for its cafe culture and Boryeong is no exception. While Boryeong is famous for its annual Mud Festival, you’ll find some great cafes to visit to help you relax and recharge during your two-day trip. After living in Boryeong for three years, here are four of my favorite cafes in Boryeong.

Bbang Bbang Bbang House

So this place can be great if you’re wanting a brunch or lunch spot. I really enjoyed their pasta dishes and ended up ordering their carbonara. They had a wide range of other pastas, sandwiches, salads, and pilafs available, including some vegetarian options, and be sure to check out their Naver page to see their current menu options.

Bbang Bbang Bbang House is one of the newer cafes in Boryeong and their selection of bakery items and drinks were plentiful. During my visit, I tried out their sweet potato bread, berry cake, and their honey cafe latte. I didn’t really know how best to eat the honey comb piece but all of the items were really delicious.

The interior was really spacious and there were plenty of seating areas for large and small groups. If the weather is good, you can also find a table outside to enjoy your desserts and drinks.

If you’re on the way to or from Daecheon Beach, Bbang Bbang Bbang House is a great place to stop even if you’re taking public transportation. From either Daecheon Beach or Daecheon Station, you can take the 100 or 101 bus and it only takes about thirteen minutes to get here from the train station.

Gang Story

This was one of my first cafes that I visited when I first moved to Boryeong and Gang Story has been visited by people from all over Korea. Situated at the top of a mountain, it can be hard to reach by public transportation, so I would strongly recommend taking a taxi. It’ll take about 16 minutes from Daecheon Station and cost just under 15,000 won.

The view from Gang’s Cafe is worth the drive and on a sunny day, it offers a great view of the surrounding mountains. Outside offers some great photo opportunities and on the weekends you might have to wait in line to get some of the photos.

There’s a lot of different drink options available including ades, coffee, tea, and juice, but the gelato is great for the summer weather. Gang Story also offers different cake, bread and other desserts as well and it can be a great way to relax if you end up spending a couple of days in Boryeong.

Cafe Ririss

Cafe Ririss is my favorite cafe in Boryeong and I’ve probably been there a half dozen times. Cafe Ririss is located within the Gaehwa Art Park and you could probably spend the afternoon here pretty easily. At Gaehwa Art Park, you can check out the art museum, petting zoo, arboretum and outdoor sculptures in addition to the cafe.

Cafe Ririss has a lot, and I mean a lot of different photozones throughout the interior decorated with various dried flowers. You’ll also find some nice spots to sit and take pictures outdoors as well.

When it comes to their cafe drinks, you can expect to spend around 10,000 won for each person and if you try out their bingsu or brunch, you can end up spending around 30,000 won for two people. At the cafe, their various drinks are decorated with dried flowers and they have a shop where you can pick up various dried flower products to bring home.

Coffee Interview

One of the cafes that overlook Daecheon Harbor, Coffee Interview has also has pensions available to stay at along with an indoor pool for people staying at the pension. Even if you’re not staying here, Coffee Interview is a great cafe to stop at during golden hour so you can see the sunset at the ocean.

For drinks and desserts, I tried out their coconut coffee and they also have various coffee and tea options too. The honey cake is also a favorite option and Coffee Interview offers ice cream and even some alcoholic cocktails as well.

My favorite part of the visit was the view of the ocean from the cafe and when I revisit Boryeong in the future, I wouldn’t mind staying at the pension here at Coffee Interview.

Summary

These are just a few of the cafes that you can find in Boryeong and if you end up spending the weekend in the city, you can visit quite a few of them during your next trip. You can check out cafes like Cafe Ririss in our vlog about Boryeong and let me know if there’s any cafes in Boryeong that you think we should add to the list.
